Students at the recently opened Harrison Centre for Social Mobility in Antigua received a visit from founder and entrepreneur Sir David Harrison.
Since its official opening last November, students have been working towards a range of qualifications from business and administrative services to joinery and engineering.
The new Harrison Centre Antigua and Barbuda is a multimillion-pound investment from the Harrison Foundation to create a purpose-built facility on the site of the previous Antigua and Barbuda Institute for Continuing Education. It provides education and skills training to people of all ages across Antigua and Barbuda to help them find new opportunities and routes into employment.
During the visit Harrison Foundation founder, Sir David, spoke to students and tutors and took part in business studies lessons. He was able to offer the students the benefit of over 40 years in business during which time he has built and grown some of the largest businesses in financial services in the United Kingdom.
Following the visit Sir David said: “It was fantastic to meet the wonderful tutors and the inspiring students at the Harrison Centre, and it’s a particular delight to see them in this wonderful new facility that has been so expertly constructed. It’s a first-class learning environment and something that we can all be incredibly proud of. It will serve the people of Antigua and Barbuda for many many years to come.”
