Harrison Foundation’s Festive Fundraising

The festive season is a time for community, celebration, and giving back, and the Harrison Foundation has once again embodied these values with its participation in several high-profile fundraising events.  From the Newcastle United Foundation’s Awards to the Sunshine Fund’s Question of Sport evening and the Sunderland Foundation of Light’s Gala Awards, the Harrison Foundation has proudly supported organisations that make a tangible difference in people’s lives. To date, the Harrison Foundation has donated over one million pounds to these three excellent charities, whose impact can be felt throughout their local communities.  Here’s a closer look at these impactful events and the role the Harrison Foundation played in making them a success.

Newcastle United Foundation Awards

Since 2017, the Harrison Foundation has worked in partnership with the Newcastle United Foundation to break down barriers to opportunity across Newcastle and the wider North East. The annual awards is a prestigious event that shines a light on the remarkable achievements of individuals and groups who have transformed lives through the power of football. Held annually, the awards bring together players, supporters and community champions to celebrate the unifying force of football. The Harrison Foundation was proud to attend and sponsor this event for the fourth year running, which highlighted initiatives such as employability programmes, grassroots coaching and inclusivity projects for people with disabilities.  One of the most inspiring moments of the night was the recognition of young people who had overcome adversity with the help of the Foundation’s outreach programs. Their stories were a reminder of the transformative power of community support, something the Harrison Foundation is committed to amplifying. The event was a great success, raising over £227,000 during the evening, the highest amount ever.

Sunshine Fund’s Question of Sport

Next on the festive calendar was the Sunshine Fund’s “Question of Sport” event—a lively and interactive evening that tested guests’ sports knowledge while raising vital funds for children with disabilities. Over the last six years, the Harrison Foundation has supported the Sunshine Fund’s work to provide specialised equipment to improve the quality of life for children and their families.  The Harrison Foundation team joined local businesses and supporters for a night of trivia and generosity and the event was a fantastic opportunity to combine fun with fundraising. The competitive yet friendly atmosphere kept spirits high, while the funds raised went directly toward purchasing adaptive equipment for children across the North East.

Foundation of Light’s Gala Awards

Rounding off the festive season was the Foundation of Light’s Gala Awards, a glittering evening celebrating the outstanding work of Sunderland AFC’s official charity. With its focus on education, health, and employability, the Harrison Foundation’s seven-year partnership with the Foundation of Light has positively impacted countless lives across Wearside and County Durham.

The gala recognised exceptional individuals and programmes that have made a difference in the community, including employment training and apprenticeships.  The highlight of the night was the opportunity to witness firsthand how the Foundation of Light’s initiatives have empowered people of all ages, from young learners to senior citizens. The Harrison Foundation’s ongoing support ensures these programmes continue to thrive, generating hope and opportunity for those who need it most.
